There are many tools and devices that you can buy to add to your fly tying kit that range from the useful to the superfluous. Here are a couple of tools you might like to add over time, which while not essential, will make your tying easier and so more pleasurable.Whip finish toolIf you finish off your fly with a whip finish knot (rather than a few half-hitches) then this strange looking contraption is designed to make the job easier, once you have learned how to use it. Some people swear by them, others swear at them and prefer to use just their fingers.
TweezersA good pair of surgical quality tweezers is extremely useful. Choose those with a fine enough tip to pluck out a single barb at a time on a hackle. These are worth spending at the more expensive end of the scale.Some tweezers reviewed here Three in one toolOne of my most useful tools has a dubbing needle at one end, a dubbing brush in the middle (again for 'roughing up' body dubbing on a fly) and a tool to tie a half-hitch knot at the other end. It isn't cheap but it is well made and very useful.
